How much fragrance oil do you use in your candles?

We use a carefully balanced amount of fragrance oil, typically between 5% to 10% of the total candle weight. This percentage is chosen to provide a strong scent throw when burned while ensuring the candle burns properly and doesn't have issues like a clogged wick.

I'm not getting a good scent throw from my candle. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

A poor scent throw can be caused by a few different factors. We recommend ensuring the wick is trimmed to ¼ inch before each burn and that you allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the container on the first burn. Burning the candle away from drafts and air currents will also help produce a larger, steadier flame for optimal scent release.

What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils in your candles?

Accepted Answer

Essential oils are 100% natural extracts from plants, while fragrance oils can be a blend of natural and synthetic ingredients. Both types of oils are safe for candle use when properly formulated. We select our oils based on the best scent quality and performance for a strong, clean burn.

What kind of wax do you use for your candles?

Why can't I smell my candle when it's not lit?

Accepted Answer

Many fragrance oils can smell quite mild or even different when you sniff them straight from the bottle or a cold candle. This is because you are only smelling the light "top notes." To experience the full scent, including the deeper "mid and base notes," the candle needs to be warmed or burned.
